I have been wanting so bad to show n tell, I have been working on uploading for 2 months, trying to figure out the labrynth within Typepad, I couldn't stand it one more day not telling anyone! It's not completely done, I guess it will be an ongoing project...links etc...if I have forgotten anyone pleaz leave me your link so I may add it~

I love all the options, folders, typelists, links & photo albums that blogger doesn't have ....Not sure if I will close this blog down, so many memories & photos here, maybe post to both?! will see what the future holds.

Letters to an artist~

Dear Izabella,

In 1903, the poet Rainer Maria Rilke responded by letter to a young man seeking his advice. Rilke eventually wrote ten letters now collectively known and much published as "Letters to a Young Poet." They are heartfelt advice from a successful (but still struggling) artist to another who was deeply mired in self-doubt. The classic language of these letters soars in beauty as well as lofty good sense. His idealism is applicable today to all who might pursue any sort of creative activity. Yesterday, on a pathside bench deep in a blustery, storm-destroyed forest, I reread the letters. Here, partly in direct quotation and partly in condensed summation, are some of Rilke's ideas:

Your work needs to be independent of others' work.

You must not compare yourself to others.

No one can help you.

You have to help yourself.

Criticism leads to misunderstandings and defeatism.

Work from necessity and your compulsion to do it.

Work on what you know and what you are sure you love.

Don't observe yourself too closely, just let it happen.

Don't let yourself be controlled by too much irony.

Live in and love the activity of your work.

Be free of thoughts of sin, guilt and misgiving.

Be touched by the beautiful anxiety of life.

Be patient with the unresolved in your heart.

Try to be in love with the questions themselves.

Love your solitude and try to sing with its pain.

Be gentle to all of those who stay behind.

Your inner self is worth your entire concentration.

Allow your art to make extraordinary demands on you.

Bear your sadness with greater trust than your joy.

Do not persecute yourself with how things are going.

It's good to be solitary, because solitude is difficult.

It's good to love, because love is difficult.

You are not a prisoner of anything or anyone.

Rainer Maria Rilke (1875-1926) was born in Czechoslovakia and died in Switzerland. Dogged by fragile health and the constant search for inexpensive and healthful accommodation, he anxiously moved from one climate to another. Considered the greatest modern poet in the German language, Rilke counselled the young poet, known only as Mr. Kappus, over a five-year period. No evidence exists that they ever met.

Here I am procrastinating again...I should be doing bills, cleaning my house, wrapping Christmas presents, but here I am wanderlusting blogs~

Earlier, I was googling for a specific something & found a surprize....people talking about me on the internet! ...then I decided to google my name, my blog name, and some other sites that I have, so far nothing bad about me but...oh my ... what you can find on the internet!

I wanted to share...go google your name or your blog name & see who is talking about you, or who is linking you, it's rather kind of odd, like spying, but exhilirating at the same time~

Today I am thankful for.... my babies~ I haven't been in the Christmas spirit & thought I better snap out of it for the kids sake...so away we went to Starbucks today for steamy hot chocolate with whip cream on top... no coffee for me today! I was up until 3;30 this morning because of the accidental caffeinated coffee conspiracy from yesterday~ that barista, I swear she secretly hates me ;)

Later today the kids & I finally created our gingerbread houses, 2 this year....one the kids donate & the other they devour! So today was a good day....I am thankful~

It's 2 am...can't sleep...dang barista! this is the 3rd time she has done this........grande, DECAF, latte pleaz...that was 8 hours ago & I am wide awake.... last time this happened I was up till dawn~ so I'll make the best of it ;)

In the previous post, I wrote about almost getting wiped out by that semi..... since then I have been thinking alot about incidents in my past, of how protected I have been,......so I thought I would share this story, which I have never told a single soul, except for the 8 who experienced it also, I really don't enjoy talking about my childhood dayz..... but I am only sharing because I would love to hear about others' encounters with their guardian angel or knew that God protected them from danger~ so here's just one of my lil stories.

I was 13. Nine of us where packed in my friends 69 fastback mustang, we were heading for a party in Ravensdale, where hundred's of people would fill the woods with bonfires, kegs of beer, loud music, just pure sodom & gommorah atmosphere.

I was squished in the middle of the backseat, holding tightly to the half drank bottle of Jack Daniels, breathing in the smells of cloves & weed, the smoke so thick it burned my eyes. The music was so loud, no one could hear each other, so we all sat there drinking, smoking, being fooled this was a great time.

E started driving very fast, he turned up the music louder & lit up another clove cigarette. Thinking to myself, I can't wait until I can drive a car. E started passing cars, I glanced at the speedometer... 120... that was as high as the numbers went. We were in a hurry to get to the party, it was already midnight (a 13 year old girl out at midnight, smoking & drinking~ makes me sick to my stomach)

I wondered if we were going faster than 12o. Up ahead I saw headlights, I started thinking this was kind of scary going this fast & E was swerving all over the road. But I took another drink. The headlights got closer & E was in the oncoming lane, heading right for the other car. The music was blaring...can you believe it...ACDC "highway to hell." I yelled at E, but nobody could hear me, I was thinking, can't anyone else see what's going to happen!? The lights were so close....I closed my eyes & said "God, I don't want to die!" I opened my eyes, the headlights were right in front of us, E slammed on the brakes....I closed my eyes again waiting for the sounds of smashing glass & crushing metal. I looked up again, horrified, waiting to be blasted through the front windshield from the impact...but there was no crash... the headlights split in two & went on both sides of the car, I watched in confusion of what just happened, I turned around to look out the back window, I could see the red tail lights on either side of the road....it was two motorcyles~

I knew God heard me that night, I felt guilty....I told Him I would quit drinking some day~

This could have been THE day~

I really must stop day dreaming while driving~ earlier today while I was in a dreamy state of euphoria, listening intensly to the music, deep in thought... have you ever wanted something so bad it hurt!? and you can't concentrate on anything! well, that's my story, can't concentrate lately~

anyways....I stopped for a red light, when the light turned green, I cruized on out into the intersection..... I always look both ways before going, but this time I didn't, too busy dreaming (if you ever drive in Vegas, you don't dare go without looking)

As I am in the middle of this busy intersection, I looked to my left and this semi truck is haulin ass right for me on my drivers side, oh my gosh it was so scary just like out of a movie, I hit the gas & went completely sideways...I handled it quite nicely I should add , that truck missed me by inches!!.... if I didn't have the power I have in that Harley truck to get me the heck out of the way, I would have been.... well... .it didn't happen so I am just thanking God I didn't die today~ I pulled over up the way, shaking, my heart in my throat, I thought I was going to pass out, then just cried for about half an hour.

What is even sadder is that I am writing this story on my blog~

It's been fun reading everyone's 6 weird things, although I haven't read anything too weird! actually...I find I have alot in common with everyone! so maybe we are all weird & we don't even know how weird we are!? ;)

My 6 weird things about me~ I have to include this one, although, that makes it seven...I have always wanted to live in a gothic castle with red velvet curtains, filled with antique/gothic furnitures, huge chandeliers, huge candleobras everywhere with wax dripping all over the floors & tables, and hold masquarade & elegant dinner parties.

1~ I love Miss Me jeans, it's hard to find jeans for my size, so when I find a pair I love I buy an over abundance of them...like 5-10 pairs! cuz I know I won't find them next season.

2. At night when I am going to bed, I turn out the lights in my bedroom & I will jump in when I get close to the bed, because I think "something" is under there! how ridiculous is that! (I don't think I have ever told anyone that one)

3. I wear my hair up everyday.

4. I don't leave my house without makeup, because I think I may run into someone I know.

5. Before I cook, I close all the doors to the rooms & closets, and light up yummy smelling candles in each room, because I can't stand the smell of cooked food in my clothes, towels, comforters etc....although I won't shut the doors when I am cooking sweet smelly things, like cookies and cakes.

6. I don't feel like an adult.

I haven't wanted to share the news, until I knew for sure...the book by Bernie Berlin "Artists Trading Cards Workshop" will officially be in stores by December 5th...Barnes & Noble, Borders, etc...I am excited to announce that my art is in the book!! oh my... I can't believe I am actually writing this, my art is in a book & in a real book store!!! (thank you Bernie for believing in me & allowing me to be included in this project!!)

I haven't seen the book yet, so I am not sure which art cards were used, although Bernie mentioned...it looked as though they used 6 out of the 7, that I submitted. All of the artists' were given different techniques to experiment..... so I wasn't too happy with the way my art cards turned out, since it wasn't my usual style, but I had fun experimenting with the new techniques & I learned some new tricks from the experience~ You can buy the book from Bernie's blog, which will help in supporting her animal shelter! the link is in the lower right hand sidebar http://aplacetobark.blogspot.com/ oh my gosh!! My computer problems seem to be fixed, finally! So here I am back in blogland~

Wanted to share a lil' about my latest experience, I mentioned in my last post~ one of the most scariest things I have ever done in my life!!! My family & I went to the Las Vegas Speedway last week & I raced an indy car~ 150 miles per hour, eight laps!! Exhilerating!!

I drive fast all the time, sometimes a lil' too fast, when the kids aren't in the car~ so I never thought racing this car would be any different, well....I can't even explain in words how different it is being on a track than on the streets. But now I know why there were no girls racing, just huge dudes, I felt like a little girl being in the class with them, I could tell by there comments & actions that they were not too thrilled I was there~ "silly girl" I heard one of them say~

I took the class, tried listening to the teacher, but my mind was in a whirlwind, so much to learn, & how to do it correctly...I was freaking out, afraid I would forget something, it wasn't as easy as I thought.

Finally after the class, they took us back to the track, one by one they helped us into our cars. I got in mine...I was so short they had to add 4 pillows so I could reach the clutch, gas & brakes~ then they straped me in...oh my gosh!! I couldn't breath!! it was so tight!! I was facing the sun & it was hot, the helmet & neck brace were so tight....I waited for my turn, which felt like an eternity. I couldn't breath, it was hot, the smell of gas, oh my gosh! I started to panic, closterphobic! I never have been before~ I wanted to rip off the belts, I couldn't take off my helmut...oh shit (excuse my language) I need to get out, I changed my mind, I don't want to race, no one could here me if I tried....breathe breathe, consentrate. Finally they came over & said I was up...thank you God!!

Hopefully, I will remember everything they just taught me, my mind was whirling with a million thoughts....they pushed me off.... I pushed in the clutch...shaking like a leaf, the power was way more than I imagined, the roar of the motor was intense, the steering was so overwhelming I could hardly steer, I couldn't see very well, the wind was taking my breath away, the first corner came up...oh my gosh!! I was holding on so tight, it was hard to turn, the G forces were so amazingly intense around the corners, it grounded me into the seat until it hurt, I thought I was going to go right into the side of the wall...breathe, breathe, concentrate, Jesus please don't let me crash, don't let me crash...I saw my life flash before my eyes, my kids, my family, my life, could it end today?! this was a dumb thing to do...a stupid girl racing on the track, no wonder there weren't any girls racing, this is fricken scary as hell!!!

What seemed like forever, I finally saw the checkered flag, my time is done, thank you Jesus for not letting me crash!!

They had to help me out of the car, I was shaking so bad, I could hardly walk~ my arms were extremely sore for 3 days after~ I will see if I can upload some video, I payed for a 3 way camera action...oh I am sure it will be hilarious with a camera in my face, breathing around every corner like I was having a baby!

I can't wait to go back again! silly girl ;)

Back from Palm Springs~ The first day we rode the tram 7000 feet! I felt so small in this world~ the mountain was enormous, full of jagged rocks, the ride was wild, majestic & aweing~ The tram was stuffed with 80 people & when the doors shut, the floor rotated, it was a spectacular view~

The weather was a beautiful 85 degrees. That night my 9 year old got very sick..he & I spent the next two days in the hotel room~ poor lil' guy was miserable, wish I had brought some art books to read, or my art journal to work in~watched too much mindless tv~

On our way home, we thought are our eyes were playing tricks on us....95 degrees...and it looked like it had snowed......have you ever heard of cotton fields in California!? it was beautiful!! I have never seen cotton plants, the kids loved it, touching, picking & walking through it...so heavenly~

I am going through art withdrawls, I haven't created anything in weeks, I feel so empty when I don't create, hopefully I can hide away & make something this week~

p.s. I despise my camera, but I had to share these pics, although they don't do justice~

I am in shock, how to find the words, what to think...it feels so surreal....I just want to wake up & it is just a bad dream~ I wanted to post yesterday, as I know alot of friends that read my posts know of JoAnnA (mosshillstudio) and I know you would want to know of her thoughts & her pained heart~ she was diagnosed yesterday with breast cancer....I feel helpless right now to be able help her, I want so bad to be there with her, but will wait to see if she summons me~

JoAnnA will need tons of prayers in these trying times.... drop her a note if you can, I know she will appreciate all the letters of love & support~

I am at a loss for words...What can I say?! what can I do!? I love you my sweet friend~

Yesterday it was discovered through surgery that I have breast cancer. I am still in shock but allowing my brain to find the acceptance of what has been told to me. I do not have all the details as of yet, but I've been told I will need to have a mastectomy next week, followed by chemo.
So many emotions, so many tears, so many questions. The changes that took place with me in the cancer breast only started a few months ago. I had another tumor in the other breast for a couple of years and they found that to be benign. I really thought this new development was going to have the same outcome. I really wasn't prepared.
One thing I know for sure is that I want to fight it and I want to LIVE!! I am anxious to find out what stage it is in and if it has spread so I know what I'm fighting against.
What warms my heart beyond words is the love and support I've received from friends and family. What totally amazes me, how many tears I heard over the phone from some of my art friends I've meet through my online art groups. They have never met me, yet they cried for me. I am so touched that people care and love me so much. I have also received so many sweet encouraging emails already. It really really helps so much. I think my blog will be a good way to give updates.
God is my strength, my comforter. He uses people to give me hugs and love. I am so grateful. My husband of 16 years tomorrow, happy anniversary honey, has been a God sent. This is the first time he has become my caretaker. We've only know the reversal, as Ron has endured so much. Seven years ago they discovered a brain tumor in his brain stem. He had two brain surgeries a year apart and has done well since. He has his struggles and pain, but he is an amazing guy. I am so glad I married this man, I love him so much. He is building us a home, stick by stick. We have been living in an R.V. for 3 years and 4 months and have experienced much stress, as we never planned on it being this long. We are so close to finishing, and the house is at the point where I could be helping now. The timing is frustrating, as I so want to be in a home, a real home this winter. Patience and endurance....
and now on the survival road. I want to be a breast cancer survivor. Right now I feel like a victim of it, and unsure of my future. But soon, very soon I will be told...

Love to all of you for your prayers, encouragement and virtual hugs. Moving so far from friends and family makes it all the harder now but together in spirit we are. I have fallen in love with each of you more deeply. I know God will get us through yet another battle. My niece is in the middle east, having to fight for her life, I too will do the same. I promised her that last week when she left for Iraq, if I had to, I'd fight for mine.
I wish I had a father and a mother, but I don't in human form. This morning reading Psalm 27, Verse 10 reads, "when my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take care of me." Thank you Lord for being my everything and giving to me what I need when I need it.

LIFE GOES ON
As I was reminiscing the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001 I was looking through the newspapers and magazines I saved. In one of the magazines was a black and white photo..but no it wasn't, it was a color photo but everything was either black or shades of grey. People walking down the street coming from Ground Zero were covered in ash. It had the same effect on me it did that day in September of 2001.

Finally my darling gypsy husband is back in town, but only for a week...he had to fly in for the week long car show~ we only entered the GTO this year, so wish us luck for winning, the kids love to receive the trophies (it's no big deal to Mike & I, but such a blast for our kids to win)

This year, there is over 2000 entries, it is so amazing! They shut down Waterstreet in Henderson ( 15 minutes from Vegas strip) and it is just a huge raging party~ so fun!
